Herbs that Calm Guide

About Lauren

Lauren Almquist is an herbalist, garden consultant & holistic landscape designer.

Lauren believes that there is NO SUCH THING as a green thumb. She helps people that love plants grow their own herbs for food, medicine, and joy. Through her Guided Garden Journey system, she gives people the foundation to grow herbs with ease and confidence, season after season.

Lauren is known for facilitating connection, communication, and deep relationship among people and plants, such that all may thrive.

Through Heartspace Herbals & Garden Design, Lauren offers customized healing herbal garden creation support and coaching, and education that supports the ecosystem, of which we are all an important part.

From small container gardens to large interactive, educational, shared public spaces, Lauren works with people and plants to design and create nourishing, abundant spaces.

Lauren studied herbalism and plant spirit healing at the Gaia School of Healing in Vermont, and studied permaculture design through the Resilience Hub in Maine. She has learned the most from direct experience with plants.

She collaborates with community organizations like the Boston Food Forest Coalition to expand access to nourishing and medicinal plants, creating space for individuals and communities to connect with plants, the earth, themselves, and each other.

Lauren is also an Accredited Organic Land Care Professional (AOLCP) through the NOFA Organic Land Care Program, a program of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Connecticut. She is a member of the Permaculture Association of the Northeast, the Ecological Landscape Alliance and is a Certified Gardenary Consultant.
